Seeded 32nd of 62, finished 10th with 6 out of 9, a performance of 1985 against my own 1798, and +38.6 on my FIDE rating. That puts me at 1837, which is the highest I have been. The DWZ goes up about 46 points to roughly 1906 and the Austrian rating +38 to 1754.
The first five rounds gave me 2 points. Gernot Blum (2064) beat me on board one in round one after I gave him my queen, Maik Zesewitz (1930) beat me in round three, and Stefan Calvi (2015) beat me in round five after I dropped a rook on move 29. All three of them were rated above me and all three of them played better than I did.
Then it turned. Markus Brandstetter (2027) in round six, Hagen Matthias Schmied (1717) in round seven, a walkover in round eight when Nurija Hasanovic did not show up, and Marc Rukwid (1954) with the white pieces in the last round. Four in a row to close. The model I built before the tournament priced a closing run like that at about 1 in 383.
Tenth place won the category prize for players under 1900, 150 euro. The only player under 1900 who finished above me is Lukas Putz, and he came fourth overall, so the place money took him out of the category. Everything played out pretty alright and I hit my goals.
Kevin Narr and Alina Donets both finished on 7.5 and the title went to Narr on tiebreak. Six of us finished on six points, and on Buchholz I was the last of the six. That was still tenth.

Zug einen Turm eingestellt hab. Alle drei haben mehr Elo als ich und alle drei haben besser gespielt als ich.
Dann hat es gedreht. Markus Brandstetter (2027) in Runde sechs, Hagen Matthias Schmied (1717) in Runde sieben, in Runde acht ein kampfloser Punkt, weil Nurija Hasanovic nicht gekommen ist, und Marc Rukwid (1954) mit Weiß in der letzten Runde. Vier Siege hintereinander zum Schluss. Mein Modell von vor dem Turnier hat so einen Schlussspurt mit ungefähr 1 zu 383 bewertet.
Rang zehn hat den Kategoriepreis für Spieler unter 1900 gewonnen, 150 Euro. Der einzige Spieler unter 1900, der vor mir gelandet ist, ist Lukas Putz, und der war Gesamtvierter, also hat ihn das Platzgeld aus der Kategorie genommen. Es ist eh alles ganz gut aufgegangen und ich hab meine Ziele erreicht.
Kevin Narr und Alina Donets sind beide auf 7,5 gelandet, und der Turniersieg ist über die Feinwertung an Narr gegangen. Sechs von uns haben mit sechs Punkten abgeschlossen, und in der Buchholz war ich der Letzte von den sechs. Das war trotzdem Rang 10.
